Disrupting philanthropy. Building trust in rural communities.
Small towns are the bedrock of American culture—and they’re disappearing. Founded in 2007, LOR is a family foundation that partners with rural communities in the Intermountain West to invest in local, community-driven solutions to address their greatest challenges.

Overview
Challenge
Reach the hardest to reach
In order to maximize impact, the LOR Foundation had to increase awareness of their mission and vision in both the highly-specific communities they serve and across the philanthropy community at large.
Campaign
EXPLORE
The EXPLORE campaign demonstrated the foundation’s values in ways that resonated with both of these disparate audiences.
The client was so pleased with the concept, they created a new title within the organization: Chief Exploration Officer.
Manifesto
Living in the Intermountain West is a daily adventure. Exploration goes hand in hand with small town life in this wild and beautiful region – and it’s not just about the landscape.
It’s about exploring solutions that help these towns thrive, like sustaining economic prosperity, strengthening community, and preserving access to public lands.
Through our campaign, we’ll invite residents to explore LOR’s mission and values as they are being carried out in these communities.
COMNET 17
The campaign debuted at COMNET 17—one of the biggest communications conferences for the philanthropic community—through print materials and a fully integrated augmented reality (AR) experience.
The LOR Foundation’s story came to life as users scanned signage, printed products, and even cocktail napkins with their mobile devices.
The EXPLORE campaign demonstrated the foundation’s values in ways that resonated with both of these disparate audiences.
